Today’s special recipe is spicy, yummy ad tasty with aromatic flavors is easy to prepare. Also there is no need of making advance preparation.

This dish is very spicy by adding lots of red chilies and garam masala. If you like less spicy, just reduce the amount of chilies.This classic prawns masala recipe is sure to be a family favorite.. 🙂 🙂 .

In-fact you could eat this as a starter also.

Main ingredients: prawns, kashmiri dry red chilies and spices.

Preparation: 10 minutes and cook time: 25 minutes.

Serves: 3-4.

INGREDIENTS:

  1. 450 grams/ 1 cup(de-veined) neatly cleaned prawns.
  2. 1-2 medium onions. (roughly chopped).
  3. 5- 6 kashmiri dry red chilies.
  4. 7- 10 cashew nuts (optional).
  5. salt to taste.
  6. 1 pinch turmeric  pwd.
  7. 2 tsp ginger garlic paste.
  8. 2 tbsp fresh chopped cilantro.
  9. 3-4 tbsp oil.

SPICES:

  1. 1 tbsp poppy seeds/ khaskhas/ gasagasalu.
  2. 6 cloves/ lovng/ lavangalu.
  3. 1” cinnamon stick/ dalchini/ dlachina chakka.
  4. 2 cardamom/ elaichi/ yalukalu.
  5. 1 tsp cumin seeds/ jeera/ jeelakarra.
  6. 1 tsp coriander seeds/ dhania/ dhaniyalu.

PREPARATION:

  1. Boil the chopped onion, red chilies and cashew nuts with sufficient water for 5 minutes in a cooking vessel. Keep aside.
  2. Dry roast the all above mentioned spices in a frying pan until they leave nice aroma, keep aside.
  3. Grind the boiled onion and red chilies along with roasted spices to a fine masala paste (add little water if necessary).

METHOD:

  1. Heat oil in a frying pan, on over low flame, add cleaned prawns, salt, turmeric pwd, ginger garlic paste  and ground masala paste and cook covered by stirring constantly for 10- 15 minutes or until the paste starts leaving oil around the edges of the pan.
  2. Remove lid, stir fry for 5-7 minutes or until even browning. Garnish with fresh cilantro.

Serve hot with steamed rice.
