INGREDIENTS:

  1. ½  liter creamed milk.
  2.  ½ cup rice (washed).
  3. 2 tbsp sago/ sabudana/ saggu biyyam.
  4. 150 grams sugar.
  5. 3-4 cups water.
  6. 1 tsp slightly crushed cardamom
  7. A pinch of salt (optional).
  8. A few saffron threads (optional).
  9. 2- 3 tbsp ghee (clarified butter).
  10. A few roasted cashew nuts or any dry fruits of your choice.

METHOD:

  1. In a heavy bottomed cooking vessel, pour milk and water and bring it to a boil.

  2. Add sago and cook uncovered, stirring occasionally for 7- 10 minutes or till the sago tender.

  3. Add drained rice and mix. Simmer, stirring occasionally, to prevent the rice and sago from sticking to the bottom of the pan for about 10- 12 minutes.

  4. When the rice is soften, add sugar, saffron threads and crushed cardamom and mix until the sugar melts.IMG_5832
  5. Finally add ghee and roasted dry fruits and mix. Sprinkle some more dry fruits on top.
