Main ingredients: Mutton and spices.

Preparation and cook time: approx 45 minutes.

  1. ½ Kg mutton (neatly washed).
  2. 2 medium onions (chopped).
  3. 2-3 tbsp oil.
  4. 3-4 green chilies (chopped).
  5. Salt- to taste.
  6. 1 tsp ginger garlic paste.
  7. 1 pinch turmeric pwd.
  8. 1 tbsp coriander pwd.
  9. 1 tsp red chilly pwd.
  10. 2 tbsp fresh chopped coriander leaves.

TO MASALA PASTE:

(½ tsp fennel seeds +½ tsp pepper corns + 5-6 cloves + 1” cinnamon stick + 1 cardamom +1 tsp cumin seeds + 1 tbsp poppy seeds + 5-6 cashew nuts + 1 small piece coconut. (chopped).

  • Grind all above mentioned masala ingredients by adding little water to a smooth paste.

METHOD:

  1. Heat oil in a cooking vessel on medium flame.
  2.  Add chopped onion, green chilies and saute for a few sec.

  3. Add  ginger garlic paste and saute for a minute or till the raw smell disappears.
  4. Add mutton pieces, salt, turmeric pwd and red chilly pwd and mix.

  5. Cook uncovered till the water is completely evaporated.
  6. Now add coriander pwd and ground masala paste and stir for a few sec.

  7. Add 2 cups of water and cook covered for 15- 20 minutes or till the mutton is tender and the gravy thickens. Garnish with coriander leaves.

Serve hot with hot rice or with any Indian breads, like roti, chapatti, paratha etc..
