Main ingredient: aloo/ potato.

Cook time: 30 minutes.

Serves: 3-4.

INGREDIENTS:

  1. 500 grams potatoes (peeled, chopped).
  2. 2 medium onions (chopped).
  3. 2 green chilies (chopped).
  4. Salt- to taste.
  5. 1 pinch turmeric pwd.
  6. 1 tsp ginger garlic paste.
  7. 1 tsp red chilly  pwd.

TO TEMPERING:

  1. 2 tbsp oil.
  2. 1 tsp cumin seeds/ jeera/ jeelakarra.
  3. 1 tsp mustard seeds/ rai/ aavaalu.
  4. 1 tsp split black gram (skin less)/ urad dal/ minappappu.
  5. 1 sprig curry leaves.

METHOD:

  1. Heat oil in a nonstick cooking pan on over low flame.
  2. Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, split black gram and let them splutter.

  3. Add curry leaves, chopped onion, green chilies, salt and turmeric pwd and saute until translucent.

  4. Add ginger garlic paste and saute for a minute or until fragrant.

  5. Now add chopped potato and cook covered on low flame, by stirring occasionally for 15- 17 minutes or until the potato pieces soften.IMG_7897

  6. Add red chilly pwd, keep stirring everything together until the potato pieces feel perfectly coated and look done.

Serve hot as a side with sambar rice or rasam rice.
