INGREDIENTS:

  1. 6-7 medium  tomatoes (finely chopped).
  2. 1 medium fresh cauliflower (cut into florets then cut the stem into small pieces).
  3. 2 medium onion (chopped).
  4. 3 green chilies (chopped).
  5. Salt- to taste.
  6. 1 pinch turmeric pwd.
  7. 1 tsp cumin pwd/ jeera/ Jeelakarra.
  8. ¾ tsp red chilly pwd.
  9. 1 tsp ginger garlic paste.
  10. ½ tsp garam masala pwd.
  11. 2 tbsp chopped cilantro.

TO TEMPERING:

  1. 2 tbsp oil.
  2. 1 tsp mustard seeds/ rai/ aavaalu.
  3. 1 tsp split black gram/ urad dal/minappappu (skin less).
  4. 1 sprig curry leaves.

METHOD:

  1. heat oil in a cooking vessel, add mustard seeds and split black gram and let them splutter.IMG_7136
  2. Add curry leaves, chopped onion, chopped cauliflower stem bits, green chilies  and ginger garlic paste and saute for a minute.IMG_7138
  3. Add cauliflower florets, salt and turmeric pwd and cook till the florets tender.IMG_7148

  4. Add chopped tomato, cover with lid and let stand without stirring for 3-5 minutes or till the tomato pieces soften.IMG_7151
  5. Now remove lid, cook stirring occasionally for 5-7 minutes till the water evaporates.

  6. Now add red chilly pwd, cumin pwd, garam masala pwd and mix.IMG_7160IMG_7163

  7. Add 1 cup water and chopped cilantro and mix. Cover with lid and simmer for 7- 10 minutes and till the curry reaches to desired gravy consistency.
