Main ingredients: Fish fillets and spices.

Preparation and cook time: 35 minutes (Approx).

INGREDIENTS:

  1. 10– 12 fish fillets. (Clean and neatly wash with salt and turmeric pwd ).
  2. 2 medium onions (roughly chopped).
  3. 3 green chilies (slit length wise).
  4. Salt- to taste.
  5. 1 pinch turmeric pwd.
  6. 1 ½ tsp red chilly pwd.
  7. 1 tbsp coriander pwd.
  8. 2 tbsp thick coconut milk.
  9. Spices (4 cloves+ 1 cardamom+ 1” cinnamon stick).
  10. 1 small lemon sized tamarind (Soak with enough warm water for 10 minutes and extract the pulp).
  11. 2 sprigs curry leaves.
  12. 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves.
  13. 2-3 tbsp oil.

PREPARATION:

  • In a mix jar, grind the chopped onion together tomato pieces and above mentioned spices to a fine paste.

METHOD:

  1. Heat oil in a wide cooking vessel, add prepared onion paste, salt and turmeric pwd and saute for 5-7 minutes.

  2. Add ginger garlic paste and saute another minute or until fragrant.

  3. Now add the fish fillets and let them cook for 2-3 minutes.

  4. Flip over the fish fillets gently and cook for another 4-5 minutes.

  5. Then add, green chilies, red chilly pwd, coriander pwd, tamarind pulp and coconut milk and combine gently.

  6. Add 1 ½ cup of water. Cover with lid, simmer for 15- 18 minutes or till the curry reaches to required gravy consistency.

  7. Add chopped coriander leaves and curry leaves and let stands for 2 more minutes.

Serve hot with steamed rice.
