Main ingredients: semolina/ suji/ rawa tomato and potato.

Preparation: 15- 20 minutes.

INGREDIENTS:

  1. 1 cup semolina/ suji/ rawa.
  2. 2 – 2 ½ cups water.
  3. 1 medium onion (chopped).
  4. 2-3 green chilies or to taste (cut into small rounds).
  5. 1 medium tomato (chopped).
  6. 1 medium potato (cut into small pieces).
  7. ½ tsp ginger garlic paste.
  8. 1 pinch turmeric pwd.
  9. Salt- to taste.

TO TEMPERING/ TADAKA/ TAALIMPU:

  1. 2 tbsp oil.
  2. 1 tsp mustard seeds/ rai/ aavaalu.
  3. 1 tsp cumin seeds/ jeera/ jeelakarra.
  4. 1 tsp split Bengal gram/ chana dal/ patchi sanaga pappu (skin less).
  5. 1 tsp split black gram/ urad dal/ minappappu (skin less).
  6. 1 sprig curry leaves.

METHOD:

  1. Heat oil in a heavy bottomed frying pan.
  2. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, split Bengal gram, split black gram.
  3.  As they begin to change the color, add curry leaves chopped onion, potato pieces, green chilies, salt and turmeric pwd and saute for 2-3 minutes or till the potato pieces tender.

  4. Add ginger garlic paste and saute until fragrant.
  5. Add chopped tomato and saute another 2 minutes or till the tomato pieces soften.

  6. Add water and bring it to a boil.
  7. Now slowly pour the semolina into the boiling water and stir continuously to avoid lumps.

  8. Cook covered for 2-3 minutes or till most of the water is absorbed.

  9. Remove lid and cook, stirring occasionally till the semolina is properly cooked.

Serve hot by adding 1 tsp of fresh ghee.
