INGREDIENTS:

  1. 2 cups rice flour/ arisi maavu.
  2. ½ cup black gram flour (Skin less)/ullutham maavu/ minapa pindi.
  3. Salt- to taste.
  4. 2 tbsp sesame seeds.
  5. 1 tsp cumin seeds.
  6. ½ tsp red chilly pwd or to taste.
  7. 2 tbsp ghee.

  1. In a bowl, place the rice flour, black gram flour, salt, sesame seeds, cumin seeds, ghee and red chilly pwd and mix well. Make a fine dough by adding little water gradually. The dough should not too soft or hard.
  2. Use a star disk in your murukku press and fill it with some prepared dough.
  3. Mean while, heat oil in a frying pan on medium flame.

  4. Start pressing the murukku press on a greased plastic sheet to form a spiral shape murukku. Make 6-7 murukkus for 1 batch.

  5. Drop gently the prepared murukkus into the hot oil and deep fry both sides till they turn to golden hue.
  6. Drain on an absorbent paper.
  7. Repeat the same process till the rest of the dough is done.
  8. Once cool, store in an air tight container.
