Main ingredient: 2 medium potatoes and onion.

Preparation: 15 minutes and cook time: 10 -15 minutes (approx).

Ingredients:

  1. 2 -3 medium potatoes.
  2. 1 medium onion. (chopped).
  3. 2 green chilies (chopped).
  4. ¼ tsp ginger garlic paste.
  5. Salt- to taste.
  6.  1 pinch turmeric pwd.
  7. ½ tsp red chilly pwd.
  8. 1 tsp coriander pwd (optional).
  9. ¼ tsp garam masala pwd or mutton masala pwd.
  10. 1 sprig curry leaves.
  11. 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves.

TO TEMPERING:

  1. 1 ½ tbsp oil.
  2. ½ tsp cumin seeds/ jeera/ jeela karra.
  3. ½ tsp split black gram (skin less)/ urad dal/ minappappu.
  4. ½ tsp mustard seeds/ rai/ aavaalu.
  5. ½ tsp split Bengal gram (skin less)/ channa dal/ patchi sanaga pappu.

PREPARATION:

  1. In a pressure cooker, place the potatoes along with 2 cups water and pressure cook up to 3 whistles.
  2. Once cool, peel the potatoes and mash them slightly.

  1. Heat oil in a frying pan on over low flame.
  2. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, split black gram, split Bengal gram and let them splutter.
  3. Add chopped onion and green chilies and saute for 3 minutes.
  4. Add ginger garlic paste and stir fry until fragrant.
  5. Add mashed potatoes, salt, turmeric pwd and saute for 5 minutes.
  6. Finally add curry leaves, coriandeer pwd, garam masala pwd, red chilly pwd and chopped cilantro and mix well.

Serve hot with steamed rice or any type of roti or serve as a side dish with rasam rice or sambhar rice.
