  1. 1 cup wheat (soaked for overnight).
  2. 1 cup +1 tbsp sugar.
  3. 2-3 tbsp ghee+ 1 tsp ghee or butter.
  4. Roasted nuts- as required.
  5. 1 tsp cardamom pwd.

PREPARATION:

  1. Grind the soaked wheat with enough water to a fine paste to extract the wheat milk.

  2. Strain the milk. And leave the wheat milk for one hour till the water separates from the milk.
  3. Discard the water from the wheat milk carefully and keep the thick wheat milk aside until use.

  4. Heat a pan on low flame, add 1 tbsp sugar and 1 tbsp ghee or butter and cook, stir with a spoon till the sugar melts and the sugar has caramelised to a light golden brown color. Keep aside.

  1. In a heavy bottomed cooking pan, place the sugar with ½ cup of water and stir till the sugar melts and it reaches string consistency.
  2. Pour thick wheat milk. Stirring continuously till the mixture begins to thicken.
  3. Add caramelised sugar syrup, cardamom pwd, roasted nuts and ghee continue to cook, stirring continuously, till it leaves the sides of the pan.
  4. To test whether it is ready. Roll a small quantity into a ball, if it does not stick to your palms, it is ready.
  5. Transfer the mixture on a greased bowl and spread evenly with the back of a flat ladle
  6. Serve this delicious wheat halwa hot or chilled 🙂 🙂
