Main ingredients: plain flour (maida) and sugar.
Prepare time: 15 minutes and cook time: 15 minutes.
To make: 10.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 cup plain flour (maida).
- ¾ cup sugar.
- 1 cup water.
- 1 pinch salt.
- 1 tsp cardamom pwd.
- Water as required to make dough.
- Oil for deep frying.
PREPARATION:
- To prepare the dough, place the flour in a wide bowl, add ghee and salt and mix. Now slowly add enough water to make a stiff dough.
- Divide the dough into 10 equal portions and shape into balls.
- Meanwhile make sugar syrup, place sugar along with cardamom pwd and water in a wide bowl and cook till it becomes sticky and one-string consistency. Cover with lid and keep aside until use.
- Roll the dough ball into small thin disk for about 5” diameter.
- Now using the knife cut long insertions leaving the edges as shown in the picture.
- Now turn that around as shown in the picture.
- Meanwhile heat the oil in a frying pan, on over low flame.
- Slide sufficient panasa thonas gently into the hot oil and stir fry till they turn to crisp and light golden hue.
- Now drain and drop them into the sugar syrup till they completely Immersed.
- After 2 minutes, remove them from the syrup and transfer into serving bowl.
Now the crispy and tasty panasa thonalu are ready to eat.
