  1. 1 cup plain flour (maida).
  2. ¾ cup sugar.
  3. 1 cup water.
  4. 1 pinch salt.
  5. 1 tsp cardamom pwd.
  6. Water as required to make dough.
  7. Oil for deep frying.

  1. To prepare the dough, place the flour in a wide bowl, add ghee and salt and mix. Now slowly add enough water to make a stiff dough.
  2. Divide the dough into 10 equal portions and shape into balls.
  3. Meanwhile make sugar syrup, place sugar along with cardamom pwd and water in a wide bowl and cook till it becomes sticky and one-string consistency. Cover with lid and keep aside until use.
  4. Roll the dough ball into small thin disk for about 5” diameter.
  5. Now using the knife cut long insertions leaving the edges as shown in the picture.
  6. Now turn that around as shown in the picture.
  7. Meanwhile heat the oil in a frying pan, on over low flame.
  8. Slide sufficient panasa thonas gently into the hot oil and stir fry till they turn to crisp and light golden hue.
  9. Now drain and drop them into the sugar syrup till they completely Immersed.
  10. After 2 minutes, remove them from the syrup and transfer into serving bowl.
