Chakralu

Main ingredients: rice flour and sanaga pindi/gram flour.

Preparation: 15 minutes.                                 Cook time: 1 hour.

INGREDIENTS:

  1. ½ kg Rice flour/ biyyapu pindi.
  2. 100 grams gram flour/snanga pindi.
  3. 1 tsp cumin seeds powder/ jeelakarra podi..
  4. 50 grams sesame seeds/ nuvvulu /til..
  5. ½ tsp asafoetida/ inguva/ hing. (optional).
  6. Salt- to taste.
  7. 2 tsp red chilly powder.
  8. oil- for deep frying.

PREPARATION:

  1. In a wide bowl, place the rice flour along with gram flour, salt, red chilly powder, asafoetida, cumin seeds powder and 2 tbsp host oil and mix everything well.
  2. Add enough water and mix well to make a smooth dough. The dough should be not too soft or hard.
  3. Mean while heat the oil in a heavy bottomed frying pan on over medium flame.
  4. Fill the chakralu maker with some of the prepared dough and press into spiral to form a big round shaped chakralu on the hot oil.

  5. Deep fry the chakralu till they turn to golden brown color.

  6. Drain on tissue paper.

  7. Repeat the same with remaining dough.

  8. Once they cool, store in an air tight container.
