Chakralu
Main ingredients: rice flour and sanaga pindi/gram flour.
Preparation: 15 minutes. Cook time: 1 hour.
INGREDIENTS:
- ½ kg Rice flour/ biyyapu pindi.
- 100 grams gram flour/snanga pindi.
- 1 tsp cumin seeds powder/ jeelakarra podi..
- 50 grams sesame seeds/ nuvvulu /til..
- ½ tsp asafoetida/ inguva/ hing. (optional).
- Salt- to taste.
- 2 tsp red chilly powder.
- oil- for deep frying.
PREPARATION:
- In a wide bowl, place the rice flour along with gram flour, salt, red chilly powder, asafoetida, cumin seeds powder and 2 tbsp host oil and mix everything well.
- Add enough water and mix well to make a smooth dough. The dough should be not too soft or hard.
- Mean while heat the oil in a heavy bottomed frying pan on over medium flame.
- Fill the chakralu maker with some of the prepared dough and press into spiral to form a big round shaped chakralu on the hot oil.
- Deep fry the chakralu till they turn to golden brown color.
- Drain on tissue paper.
- Repeat the same with remaining dough.
- Once they cool, store in an air tight container.
