INGREDIENTS:
1  1/2 kg ridge gourds. (wash peel and finely chop).
2  2 medium drum sticks (wash and cut into 2″ pieces).
3  1 medium onion (finely chopped).
4  2 green chilies (chopped).
5  1 pinch turmeric powder.
6  salt – to taste.
7  3/4 tsp red chili powder.
8  2 tbsp s fresh chopped cilantro.

FOR TEMPERING:
1  1- 1 and 1/2 tbsp oil.
2  1 tsp mustard seeds/ rai/ aavaalu .
3  1 tsp cumin seeds/ jeera/ jeelakarra.
4  1 tsp split black gram (skin less)/ urad dal/ minappappu.
5 1 sprig curry leaves.
6  1 cup water.

METHOD:
1  Heat oil in a cooking pan on over low flame.
2  Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, split black gram and let them splutter.
3  add curry leaves, drum stick bits, chopped onion, green chilies and saute for a few       seconds.
4  Add chopped ridge gourds, salt and turmeric pwd and mix.
5  Saute the mixture occasionally for 10 minutes or until the water evaporates.
6  Add red chili pwd and chopped cilantro and combine well.Add water and mix.
7  Cover with lid.Bring it to a boil  and then reduce the flame and simmer for 10-15            minutes.
8  Turn off flame, when the curry reaches to desired gravy consistency.
