INGREDIENTS:

  1. 1 small bottle gourd. (Finely chopped).
  2. 1 cup milk.
  3. Salt- to taste.
  4. 1 pinch turmeric pwd.
  5. ¾ tsp red chilly pwd.
  6. 1 small cup water.
  7. 2 tbsp s chopped cilantro.
  8. 1 medium onion (finely chopped).
  9. 2 green chilies (chopped).

FOR SEASONING:

  1. 1 ½ tbsp oil.
  2. 1 tsp Cumin seeds/jeera/ jeelakarra.
  3. 1 tsp mustard seeds/ rai/ avaalu.
  4. 1 tsp split black gram (skin less)/ urad dal/ minappappu.
  5. 1 tsp Split Bengal gram/ sanaga pappu. (optional).
  6. 1 sprig curry leaves.

  1. Heat oil in a cooking vessel. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, split black gram and split Bengal gram and let them splutter.
  2. Now add curry leaves, chopped onion and green chilies and saute for a few seconds.
  3. Add chopped bottle gourd, salt and turmeric pwd and mix.
  4. Cook for 12- 15 minutes or till the water evaporates and oil separates.
  5. Add red chilly pwd and mix.
  6. Add milk and water and mix.
  7. Cover with lid. Reduce flame and simmer for 10- 15 minutes or till the curry thickens.
  8. Garnish with chopped cilantro and transfer to a serving bowl.
