INGREDIENTS:

  1. 1 small cup split Bengal gram/ chana dal/pachi sanaga pappu.
  2. 1 small cup ground nuts/mungphali/ veru sanaga pappulu.
  3. 1 small cup chopped coconut pieces.
  4. Very small tamarind piece/imli/ chitha pandu.
  5. Salt- to taste.
  6. 5-7 green chilies
  7. 1 tsp  oil.
  8. And sufficient water.

FOR TEMPERING:

  1. 1 tsp oil.
  2. 1 dry red chilly (broken into pieces).
  3. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds/jeera/ jeelakarra.
  4. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds/ rai/ aavaalu.
  5. 1 tsp skin less black gram/ urad dal/ minappappu.
  6. 1 sprig curry leaves/ kadi patta/ karivepaku.

PREPARATION:

  1. Heat oil in a frying pan on low flame, roast the Bengal gram and ground nuts till they become golden brown color and drain into a plate.
  2. Add the green chilies in the same pan and fry for 1 minute and drain into the plate.
  3. When it cools, grind with salt, tamarind piece and a little water to a smooth paste. keep aside.
  4. prepare the tempering by heating the oil, adding the red chili bits, cumin seeds, mustard seeds and skin less black gram. Stir fry till they crackle and turn to golden brown.
  5. Add curry leaves and turn off flame and add this tempering to the dosa chutney and mix.
  6. Serve with dosa or any type of break fasts.

Tips

  • We can use dry red chilies instead of green chilies.
