Main ingredients: bread slices, milk and sugar. Prepare time: 25 minutes.

INGREDIENTS:

  1. ½ liter milk.
  2. 6 bread slices. (Remove the edges and cut into 4 pieces).
  3. ½ cup sugar.
  4. 3 tbsp s fresh ghee.
  5. A few cashew nuts (chopped).
  6. A few almonds (chopped).
  7. A few raisins/kismis.
  8. A few saffron threads soak saffron in two table spoons of warm milk).
  9. ¼ tsp cardamom pwd.

METHOD:

  1. Heat ghee in a nonstick pan on over low flame.
  2. Add chopped cashew nuts, almonds and raisins and stir fry until light golden brown and drain.
  3. Add bread pieces and deep fry until they turn to light golden brown color and drain.

  4. Now drain the remaining ghee into a separate bowl.
  5. Put the pan back on heat, add milk and stir continuously.
  6. When the milk reduces to half the original quantity, add sugar and stir until it melts.

  7. Now add roasted bread pieces and cook stirring occasionally until all the milk has been absorbed.

  8. Add saffron milk, remaining ghee (which you drained into the bowl, roasted dried fruits (raisins, almonds, and cashew nuts) and cook stir continuously  till the mixture thicken and begins to leave the sides of the pan.
  9. Transfer to a serving bowl.
