Main ingredients: mutton and capsicum.             Cook time: 30- 45 minutes.

INGREDIENTS:

  1. ½ kg mutton (neatly washed).
  2. 2 tbsp s Oil.
  3. Salt- to taste.
  4. 1 pinch Turmeric pwd.
  5. 1 tsp red chilly pwd.
  6. 1 tbsp coriander pwd.
  7. 1 tsp ginger garlic paste.
  8. 1 medium onion (chopped).
  9. 3 green chilies (chopped).
  10. 1 medium capsicum (cut into 1” cubes).
  11. 3 tbsp s finely chopped coriander leaves.
  12. 1/2 cup water.

Ingredients for SPICY MASALA:

  1. 1 small piece coconut (chopped).
  2. 8 cloves.
  3. 1 cardamom.
  4. 1” cinnamon stick.
  5. 1 tbsp poppy seeds.

  • In a mix jar place the poppy seeds and grind into a powder. Then add remaining spices (cardamom, cinnamon stick, cloves with a little water and grind into a fine paste and keep aside.

METHOD:

  1. In a small pressure cooker, place the mutton pieces along with salt, turmeric pwd, red chilly pwd, chopped onion, green chilies, ginger garlic paste, coriander pwd, ground masala paste and water and mix.

  2. Pressure cook up to 3 whistles. Let it cool and remove lid.

  3.  Return the pressure cooker to the heat. Cook till the water in the mutton mixture is almost dry. Keep aside.

  4. Heat oil in a frying pan on over low flame.
  5. Add cooked mixture and stir fry for 10- 15 minutes or till the mutton mixture turn to golden brown color.

  6. Add chopped coriander leaves and capsicum cubes and saute for a minute and transfer into a serving bowl.

Serve hot with biriyani or serve as side dish of rasam rice or sambar rice.
