Main ingredients: green gram ginger and green chilies.

Preparation: 10 minutes and cook time: 10- 15 minutes.

INGREDIENTS:

  1. 2 cups Green gram. (Soaked for 3 hours).
  2. 1 tbsp raw rice. (soaked for 2 hours).
  3. 1/4 “Ginger. (peeled and chopped).
  4. 5-6 Green chilies.
  5. Salt- to taste.
  6. 1 big onion (finely chopped).
  7. 1tsp Cumin seeds.
  8. Oil (1 tsp for each pesarattu).
  9. Water- sufficient to make batter.

PREPARATION:

  1. Grind the green gram along with raw rice, ginger, green chilies, sufficient salt and water in a mix jar into a smooth batter of dropping consistency and keep a side.

METHOD:

  1. Heat a non stick pan/tawa and slightly grease it. Pour a ladle full of batter into it and spread on wards. So that the edges would be quite thin.
  2. Sprinkle some chopped onion and some cumin seeds.

  3. Pour a spoon of the oil all around and cook on medium flame till the edge turn to light golden brown hue and crisp.

  4. Remove the ulli pesarattu  carefully (as shown in the picture). Serve hot with coconut chutney or tomato chutney.
