Main ingredients: raw rice and black gram (skin less).
Preparation and cook time: (approx) 45 minutes -1 hour.
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 cups raw rice. (Soaked 2-3 hours and neatly washed and drained).
- 1 cup black gram (skin less). (Soaked for 2-3 hours and neatly washed and drained).
- 50 gm Sugar.
- 100 gm coconut or ½ piece. (Cut into small pieces).
- 100 gm jaggery (grated).
- 2 pinch Salt.
- 1 cardamom.
- 1and half cup Oil for deep frying.
PREPARATION:
- In a mix jar add all above ingredients along with water (except oil) and grind into a fine batter of dropping consistency and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a frying pan on over low heat.
- Pour in a ladle full of ground batter (gently) into the hot oil (as shown in the picture).
- Deep-fry for 2 minutes or till the pongadalu puff up.
- Flip it over.Cook on both sides (for a minute) till golden brown hue.
- Serve hot or cool.
