Main ingredients: yam and ginger garlic paste.

Preparation: 10- 15 minutes. Cook time: 15-17 minutes.

INGREDIENTS:

  1. ½ kg yam/ kanda. (Cut into 2” inch cubes).
  2. 1 Medium onion. (chopped).
  3. 2 green chilies (chopped).
  4. 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste.
  5. Salt-to taste.
  6. 1 pinch turmeric pwd.
  7. 1 tsp red chilly pwd.
  8. 1 tsp red chilly pwd.
  9. 3 sprigs Coriander leaves (finely chopped).

FOR TEMPERING:

Oil 3 tbsp.

  1. 1 Dry Red chilly. (tear into 2 peaces).
  2. 1 tsp Mustard seeds.
  3. 1 tsp cumin seeds/jeera/jeelakarra.
  4. 1 tsp split black gram (skin less)/urad dal/ minappappu.

PREPARATION:

  • in a pressure cooker, place  the yam cubes with sufficient water and pressure cook up to 3 whistles.  let it cool.

METHOD:

  • Heat oil in a frying pan, add dry red chilly pieces, mustard seeds, cumin seeds and split black gram.
  • As they begin to change color, add curry leaves, chopped onion and green chilies and  saute for a minute.

  • Add drained then mashed yam,salt and turmeric pwd and stir fry for 10- 15 minutes until the mixture turn to light golden brown hue.
