1 cup Black gram (skin less)/ minappappu. (Soaked for 2 hours. Drain and grind into a thick fine paste.

1 cup finely chopped thotakoora (Amaranth leaves).

Salt- to taste.

Oil-for deep frying.

Combine the ground black gram paste ( urad  batter) with salt and finely chopped amaranth leaves into a bowl.

  1. Heat oil in a wide frying pan on over medium flame. Apply a little water on your palms and take a big lemon size ball of urad batter, press slightly and put small hole in the middle of the vada.
  2. Slide the vadas gently into the heated oil and deep fry until crisp and golden hue.
  3. Drain on absorbent paper and serve immediately with sambar, tomato chutney or coconut chutney.
