Main ingredients: rice flour and moong dal/ split green gram (skin less).

Preparation and cook time: 1 hour.

INGREDIENTS:

  1. 1 cup (200 gm) Moong dal/ split green gram (skin less).
  2. 1 kg Rice flour.
  3. 4-5 tbsps Butter or ghee.
  4. Salt- to taste
  5. 4”ginger (peeled and chopped 1 small cup).
  6. 10-12 medium chilies. (Grind chilies along with chopped ginger to a fine paste).
  7. Water -sufficient.
  8. Oil- needed for fry.

  1. In a heavy bottomed vessel, combine the rice flour along with salt, ghee, ginger and green chili paste with sufficient water and knead into stiff dough.
  2. With greased hands, divide the dough into small balls and keep aside.
  3. Press the flour ball on a greased plastic cover into small puris.
  4. Mean while, heat oil in a deep frying pan.
  5. Drop each puri over the heated oil and deep fry the chekkalu on high heat till light golden brown hue.

Drain on absorbent paper. And store in an air tight container.
