INGREDIENTS:

  1. 2 cups Basmathi rice or ordinary rice. (Neatly washed and drained).
  2. 1 medium sour mango (grated).
  3. 2carrots (grated).
  4. Salt- to taste.
  5. ½ tsp Turmeric pwd.

FOR TEMPERING:

2 tbsps Oil.

2 dry red chilies.

1 tsp Mustard seeds.

1 tsp split black gram (skin less).

A tsp split Bengal gram (skin less).

A few cashew nuts.

A few ground nuts.

2 sprigs curry leaves.

¼ tsp hing/ asafetida

PREPARATION:

  1. Pour 2 cups basmathi rice along with 3 cups of water in a pressure cooker and pressure cook up to 3 whistles. Let it cool.
  2. Mean while prepare tempering by heating the oil and adding red chilies, mustard seeds, split Bengal gram, cashew nuts and ground nuts. As they begin to change color, add asafetida and curry leaves. Turn off flame and keep aside.

MEHOD:

  • In a wide vessel, put the boiled basmathi rice, salt, turmeric pwd, grated mango, grated carrots and tempering and mix very well.
