INGREDIENTS:

  1. ½ litre milk.
  2. 400 gm- ½ litre water.
  3. 1 cup roasted vermicelli.
  4.  200 gm sugar.  ( 1/2 cup).
  5. A few Cashew nuts.
  6. A few almonds.
  7. A few kismis/raisins.
  8. A few pistas.
  9. ¼ tsp cardamom pwd.
  10. 1 tsp ghee.
  11. A few kesar (saffron) – dissolved in 2 tbsp warm milk.

PREPARATION:

Heat ghee in a frying pan on low flame. Add dry fruits (cashew nuts, pistas, almonds and raisins) and stir fry until light golden hue. Keep aside.
METHOD:

  1. Mix the milk with the water in a heavy bottomed pan on medium heat. Bring it to a boil. Add roasted vermicelli and cook stirring continuously to prevent lumps.

  2. Continue to cook over low heat till the vermicelli is cooked.

  3. Add sugar and mix.

  4. Simmer till the sugar is fully dissolved. Add the saffron milk, cardamom pwd, fried dry fruits and mix.Transfer into serving bowl
