Tomato chutney

Main ingredients: tomatoes and green chilies.

Preparation time: 10 minutes. Cooking time: 10- 12 minutes.

Makes- 2 cups.

INGREDIENTS:

  1. 2 cups chopped Tomatoes.
  2. 10- 12 green chilies.
  3. Salt to taste.
  4. 2 tbsps oil.
  5. 1 tbsp tamarind pulp or small bit of tamarind.
  6. 2 flakes garlic.
  7. 1 tsp Cumin seeds.
  8. ¼ bunch fresh coriander leaves (chopped).

METHOD:

  1. Heat oil in a pan, add green chilies and fry for few seconds. Add tomatoes and fry for about 5 minutes to soften them. Turn off flame and cool to room temperature.

    In a mix jar, add cumin seeds and salt and grind into a course. Add garlic flakes and tamarind and grind into a course.

    Then add cooked tomatoes, green chilies and coriander leaves and grind into course paste. Transfer into serving bowl.

Serve with rice or any type of  tiffin. Refrigerate and use as required.
