MINT VADA

Main ingredients: blackgram and mint.

Preparation and cook time: 30minutes.

Serves: 2-3.

INGREDIENTS:

  1. 1 cup black gram (skin less). Washed, soaked for 2 ½ -3 hours and ground to a fine paste by adding very little water.
  2. Salt- to taste.
  3. 1 cup Mint (plucked).
  4. 1 onion -medium (chopped).
  5. 2 green chillis (chopped).
  6. 1 tsp cumin seeds.
  7. Oil for deep frying.

PREPARATION:

Combine the ground black gram (urad dal) batter with mint, chopped onion, chopped green chilies and salt into a bowl.

METHOD:

  1. Heat oil in a deep bottomed frying pan on over medium flame.
  2. Apply a little water on your palms and take a big lemon size ball of urad batter , press slightly, put small hole in the middle of the mint vadas.
  3. Slide the vadas gently into the heated oil. Deep fry till the vadas evenly fried on both sides.

  4. When the vadas turn to golden hue, drain them and serve immediately with tomato chutney or coconut chutney.
