INGREDIENTS:

  1. Green gram- 1 cup. (Soaked for 3 hours).
  2. Raw rice- 1 tsp. (soaked).
  3. Onions-2 medium (chopped).
  4. Green chilies- 5.
  5. Ginger- ¼ inch piece.
  6. Salt- to taste.
  7. Cumin seeds- ½ tsp.
  8. Water- sufficient to make batter.
  9. Oil- sufficient for frying.

  1. Grind the green gram along with green chilies, chopped ginger and little water, into a course paste. (It should neither be a thick batter nor a thin batter as shown in the picture).
  2. Add salt and cumin seeds and chopped onion in this batter and keep aside.

 

METHOD:

  1. Heat oil in a frying pan, once the oil gets heated, wet your hand, take the batter in your hand and drop small balls  (punugulu) into the oil.
  2. Place sufficient punugulu in the oil for 1 batch.

    1. After the punugulu turn to golden brown color, take out from the oil and keep it on a tissue paper.

    2. Serve immediately with tomato ketch up or coconut chutney or tomato chutney.
