INGREDIENTS:

  1. Bottle gourd- 1 fresh and small.  (peeled and finely chopped).
  2. Curd- 1 cup.
  3. Onion- 1 medium (finely chopped).
  4. Green chilies-2 (chopped).
  5. Salt- to taste.
  6. Turmeric pwd- 1 pinch.
  7. Red chili pwd-1 tsp.
  8. Coriander leaves- 4 sprigs. (chopped).
  9. Curry leaves- 10.
  10. Oil-1-2 tbsp.
  11. Water-1 cup
  12. Cumin seeds/jeera/ jeelakarra- ½ tsp.
  13. Mustard seeds/ rai/ aavaalu- 1 tsp.
  14. Black gram (skin less)/ urad dal/ minappappu- 1 tsp.

METHOD:

  1. Heat oil in a nonstick cooking pan on medium flame. Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, and black gram (skin less) and let them splutter. Add chopped bottle gourd, salt and turmeric pwd and mix

Cover with lid, let stand for 2-3 minutes or until softened.

Remove lid and stir continuously for 10 minutes or till the water from the mixture will evaporate.

Now add red chili pwd, curd, curry leaves, chopped coriander leaves and water and mix.

Bring it to a boil, cover and simmer for about 15 minutes or till the curry reaches to consistency of your choice.
