Ingredients:

  1. Potatoes- ½ kg. (boiled and pealed).
  2. Coconut – small piece (cut into small pieces).
  3. Onion- 1 medium (chopped).
  4. Green chillies- 4-6.
  5. Turmeric powder- 1 pinch.
  6. Salt- to taste.
  7. Curry leaves- 1 sprig.
  8. Coriander leaves- (chopped) 2 tbsp.

FOR TEMPERING:

  1. Oil-3-4 tbsp.
  2. Mustard seeds- 1 tsp./ria/ aavaalu.
  3. Cumin seeds- 1 tsp./ jeera/ jeelakarra.
  4. Split black gram- 1tsp./ urad dal/ minappappu.

PREPARATION:

  1. To boil the potatoes put potatoes along with sufficient water in the pressure cooker and pressure cook up to 3 whistles.
  2. To make coconut mixture, grind the coconut pieces along with green chillies into a course.

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS:

Heat oil in a frying pan on medium flame, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, split black gram and let them splutter. Add chopped onions and saute. Add boiled and slightly mashed potatoes, salt and turmeric powder and stir fry for 10- 15 minutes or till the mixture turn to light golden color.

Add coconut mixture and cook for another 5 minutes.

Add curry leaves and chopped coriander leaves. And sauté for a half minute and transfer in to serving bowl.

serve hot with rice or roti.
