INGREDIENTS:

  1. Maida/ (plain flour)- 3 cups.
  2. Sugar-2 cups.
  3. Enough water to immerse sugar (to make sugar syrup).
  4. Ghee- 3-4 tbsp.
  5. Salt- 3 pinches.
  6. Water- ¾ -1 cup. Or (enough water to nead the maida).
  7. 1 tsp cardamom.

PREPARATION:

To make shells, mix the flour with 2 pinches of salt and enough water to make tight dough (not too soft). Make tiny balls and use thumb to press them on a gavvala chakka/a small rough wooden oar. And spread them on a paper (without getting mixed up) as shown in the picture. and keep aside.

Heat oil in a wide  frying pan on medium – high flame and deep fry the shells till crisp and golden brown hue and keep aside.

Now, In a heavy bottomed cooking vessel add sugar, a pinch of salt, cardamom powder along with water and boil it on high flame. Allow the sugar to melt and stir continuously till it forms sticky sugar syrup. Remove the sugar syrup from the stove and add the fried shells immediately.
