  1. Mutton- 1 kg.
  2. Salt- to taste.
  3. Turmeric powder- 2 pinches.
  4. Red chilly powder- ¾ tbsp.
  5. Coriander powder- 1 tbsp.
  6. Ginger garlic paste- 1 tbsp.
  7. Coconut- 1 small piece &poppy seeds – 1tbsp. (grind chopped coconut pieces along with poppy seeds into a fine paste).
  8. Mutton masala powder- 1 tea spoon. Or (powdered 12 cloves+ 2 cardmom + 1 inch cinnamon stick).
  9. Water- 2-3 cups.
  10. Oil- 2-3 tbsp.
  11. Coriander leaves-1/2 bunch.

Cooking instructions:

Heat oil in a heavy bottomed cooking pan on medium – high heat.  Add the chopped onions and saute for a minute. Add ginger garlic paste and stir fry. When you get a nice aroma, add mutton pieces, turmeric powder and salt and stir fry for about 10-12 minutes or till the oil separates. Reduce heat.



Add mutton masala powder, coriander powder, red chilly powder and coconut and poppy seeds paste and mix everything well. Now add 2-3 cups of water in it. Cook covered on low heat for about 20-25 minutes or until the meat is almost cooked. Add finely chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
