QUICK AND EASY RASAM

Prepare time :5 minutes.                                                                               FOR 2 PEOPLE.

Cooking time: 10 minutes.                                                                             CATAGORY : Vegetarian.

INGREDIENTS:

  1.  Split red gram-1 tbsp (tur dal/kandi pappu).
  2. Split Bengal gram -1tbsP (channa dal/ sanagapappu).
  3. Garlic flakes-7
  4. Coriander seeds-1tbsp.  Or (coriander powder).
  5. Pepper-1/2tsp.
  6. Cumin seeds-1 tbsp (jeera/ jeelakarra).
  7. Turmeric powder-1 big pinch(haldi/pasupu).
  8. Salt- to taste.
  9. Tamarind-small lemon size (extract juice in half cup of water).
  10. Tomatoes-2medium (chopped).
  11. Curry leaves-5.
  12. Sugar-1tsp.
  13. Water-6 cups.

FOR SEASNING:

  1. Ghee or Oil-1 teaspoon.
  2. Red chillies-2. (split in to two pieces).
  3. Split Black gram (skin less) – 1 tsp. (skin less).
  4. Mustard seeds-1tsp.
  5. Garlic flakes-2 (slightly crushed).

COOKING INSTRUCTIONS:-

Take cumin seeds, split red gram, coriander seeds or (coriander powder), and pepper in a mix jar and grind them course powder.  Add garlic flakes, chopped tomatoes, and tamarind in the same jar and grind them into a course rasam paste . and set  aside.

PREPARATION

Heat oil or ghee in a small frying pan. Add split red chillies, crushed garlic cloves, mustard seeds, cumin seeds and split black gram and let them splutter. Add asafoetida  and  curry leaves and turn off heat  and set aside.

Take a deep bottomed vessel, add six cups of water, turmeric powder, salt, chopped coriander leaves, seasoning and prepared rasam paste. And mix it well put it on the stove at medium to high flame.

Boil the ingredients for five to ten minutes, till the water bubbles appear. Keep it in simmer for three to five minutes and turn off heat
