Happy Dussehra everyone ! It’s festive environment everywhere around and it’s customary to cook rice pudding on this occasion along with other festive foods. It’s very easy to prepare and tastes amazing.

  1. Milk – 3/4 lt.
  2. Rice – 3/4 cup.
  3. Sugar – 100 grams.
  4. Jaggery – 100 grams.
  5. Water – 5 cups.
  6. Red gram dal – 2 tbsp
  7. Ghee( clarified butter ) – 6 tbsp
  8. Elachi – 3
  9. Cashew nuts – 20.
  10. Almonds – 4
  11. Raisins – 20
  12. Salt- to taste.
  13. Sago/sabhudana/saggu biyyam – 1/4 cup.

  1. Fry cashew nuts, almonds and raisins in 1 tbsp of ghee separately one after the other and put them in a bowl.
  2. Grate the Jaggery into a plate.
  3. Grind the elachies into a fine powder.

Cooking Instructions :
Pour milk and water in a cooking pan and put it on medium heat. Once the milk comes to boil, slowly mix sago into it. Note: Make sure you keep turning the mixture slowly until this rice pudding is completely cooked. After 10 minutes, take some sago into a spoon and test whether it’s cooked properly.

Once the sago is cooked, slowly pour rice into it. Wait for 20 minutes and check whether the rice is cooked.

Once rice is cooked, add sugar and jaggery into it and mix it well.

Wait for 5 minutes and add the fried cashew nuts, almonds, raisins, remaining ghee and elachi powder and mix them well. Switch off the stove and slowly take the cooked mix into the serving bowl.
